About Ammar Alhamidi

Bio

Ammar Al Hamidi is a self-taught film maker, musician and multimedia artist. Currently, he lives in Istanbul, Turkey.


He plays the oud amongst other instruments and participates within the Istanbul music scene in his own musical style combining blues, jazz and psychedelic music, together with other musicians. He produces solo diy music tracks, as well.

As a film maker, he is interested in poetic documentaries and essay-like short movies. His first documentary "Focus Point (Odak Noktasi)" was part of the official selection for the "Istanbul Documentaries Festival" in 2019 and got nominated for the best Turkish short documentary at the 52. SÄ°YAD Awards of the Turkish Film Critics Association in 2020. His experimental short movie "The Lonely Tree" was one of the finalists at the Fotogenia Film Festival in Mexico City in 2021.

In 2022, he took part in the group exhibition "Syrian Humming Project" at the arthereistanbul gallery in Kadiköy, Istanbul.

Ammar is working constantly in the fields of music, drawing and filming all at same time.
